Emergency dispatchers are trained to handle life-threatening situations, but one call they received in Newfoundland left officers scratching their heads.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, a woman dialed 911 to complain that the pizza she had ordered didn’t have enough cheese.
Police said the customer had already spoken with the pizza business but wasn’t satisfied with the response. Instead of asking to speak with a manager again or requesting a refund, she decided to call emergency services, hoping officers would somehow solve the problem.
Dispatchers quickly explained that 911 is reserved for genuine emergencies and that disagreements over pizza toppings were not police matters.
The bizarre call immediately caught public attention after police shared the story to remind people not to misuse emergency lines.
Constable Geoff Higdon later joked that the dispatcher who answered the phone would probably never forget the call, describing it as one of those moments that stands out during a career.
