Most burglars try to get in and out as quickly as possible. But one man who broke into a California pizza restaurant had a very different plan.

According to police, a man broke into Big Slice Pizza in Fullerton during the early morning hours. Instead of only searching for valuables, surveillance cameras showed him spending time inside the restaurant making himself a pizza.

The footage showed the suspect preparing dough and creating his own meal while inside the business. Police later joked online by calling him the “Pizza Burglar,” a humorous reference to the famous “Hamburglar” character.

Although the situation sounded funny, the restaurant still suffered losses. Police said the burglar also stole cash, electronic devices, and a delivery vehicle during the break-in.

The restaurant owner admitted the unusual part of the crime was surprising, saying the suspect appeared comfortable enough to spend a long time inside the business.

The surveillance video quickly attracted attention because of the strange combination of a serious crime and an unexpected food craving. Many people online joked that the burglar was less interested in stealing pizza and more interested in becoming a temporary employee.

Police eventually arrested a suspect connected to the break-in.
